«Plus qu'une photo mais moins qu'une vidéo.» Voilà comment Jamie Beck et Kevin Burg, respectivement photographe et graphiste, résument le procédé qu'ils ont mis au point. Baptisé «cinemagraph», «c'est un moyen d'ajouter du mouvement à une image fixe», explique Jamie Beck au site internet du «Daily Mail».

Pour ce faire, les deux artistes utilisent le GIF, c'est-à-dire un type de format d'images semblable au JPEG, qui a fait son apparition avec l'arrivée des premiers ordinateurs familiaux. Mais c'est le haut débit qui fait véritablement naître l'effet de mouvement.
